Data shows equivalent of 1.5% of Estonian population is registered on Mintos

With a population of 1.33 million people, Estonia may not be the largest country in Europe, but according to the latest Mintos investor data from Q1 2021, it accounts for the highest ratio of registered Mintos users per capita.

In terms of the volume of loans funded on Mintos to date, Estonia also holds impressive stats for a country of its size. In terms of the five countries with the highest numbers of registered Mintos users, Estonia is second only to Germany – a country with a population 63 times bigger. Similarly, Estonian investors have funded around one-fifth of the same volume of loans as their German counterparts, demonstrating once again the impressive scale of loan investment interest originating from Estonia.

While there was a pension reform in Estonia that gave citizens the option to withdraw their pension contributions as a lump sum before the official age of retirement at the start of 2021, this is unlikely to account for the volume of investment capital originating from the country.

Historical Mintos data since our platform began shows that Estonia has consistently been a major player in terms of registered users and volume of loans funded, suggesting that the country’s interest in loan investment is less of a trend, and most likely due to being part of a wider social, economic, and cultural tapestry around investment.
